This week I have been interviewed, not once, but twice about the festival. On Wednesday she took part in Chris Stagg’s Phoenix FM show, Words and Sound. Chris and I chatted about the festival, as well as Chicken and Frog Bookshop, before I read extracts from Nikki Sheehan’s Swan Boy and Abi Elphinstone’s The Dreamsnatcher. It was an absolute pleasure to take part in Chris’ show, not least because Phoenix FM is our local station and the one we have playing most days, but also because Chris is genuinely keen about getting children reading.

And this afternoon, I braved the weather (of which there has been copious amounts), to meet up with BBC Essex presenter, Tony Fisher. I had the opportunity to fill Tony in on the festival and talk about the importance of reading, including the Bath, Book, Bed Campaign from Book Trust.

Again, a real joy, as Tony is just as passionate about children reading as we are here at the Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival.

So, I will end by saying a very big thank-you to Phoenix FM and BBC Essex for inviting me in – here’s to more interviews in the future!
